Day 80: 10 More Days and I'm Done with Yoga (er, for a few weeks!)

I tried not to think about the 90 minutes of torture and just do it. My Rangers had just won, so I was in a great mood. I had energy from a good Spicy Thai Chicken meal and finally got down to the Yoga.

My balance problems weren't there this time. I rocked the Tree Pose and the Toe Lock. I even did the Crane for most of the 60 seconds.

I still can't do the Half-Moon for the entire time. My leg starts rebelling and threatening to collapse completely and not let me go to work tomorrow after about a minute. I don't know how they do it on the video.

Anyway, I'm pumped for the final ten days and I can't wait to be able to say I brought it for 90 Days straight!

Keep Bringing it!

Hey - congratulations on the dumbbells. I've been quietly following you from your start. You're 2 weeks ahead of me. I kept hoping you'd get the dumbbells because they make the workout so much better. I'm really happy for you.

I agree that it is often hard to get proper form with the videos. It would be really nice if they showed each move once really clearly from 2 angles. There are other explanations on the web for each exercise but still, there are many times when I have to pause it all after trying to see something specific about form.

I don't know how you're able to do crane for almost 60 seconds. I haven't been able to get past 2 seconds of it. I'm doing something wrong.

With half moon, watch what they are doing with their hand on the floor. It's further away from their foot. I've started doing it that way and it made it a little better - it still hurts. Twisted half moon seems much easier.

It seems like you're going to do a second round of P90X. Have you considered something like Turbulence Training instead? It has some interesting science behind it and requires less time per week for formal workouts (although you still have to be "active" for a few hours on your own). It's more efficient than P90X and the functional dumbbell use makes a lot more sense unless you want to do bodybuilding competitions.

Anyway, it's been great to watch you succeed.

Hey, thanks for the comments. I will be looking to do the half moon better, but I think it is more about my legs burning than anything else. I'll see if my hand placement makes it any easier. I have a hard time watching the video during Yoga.

I haven't heard of Turbulence Training, but I'll look into it. I am definitely going to do something, I just know that I will take a week or two off before starting up again. I plan on biking a lot this summer, so that will help and I don't know if I can maintain P90X's schedule. Maybe this Turbo Turbulence is a good option for the summer (I thought of Tony's 10 Minute thing he's advertising on Beachbody now, but I'm not sure that will be enough of a challenge after the X! I definitely have no aspirations to be a body builder. My main goal is to get rid of the rest of my abdominal fat. I can fit into my pants again, but I really want the flat stomach.

I have to admit, I am into the looks of my arms. I never considered myself vain, but it can be addicting to work on the arms so you look better.

Thanks again for reading. I really had no clue if anyone was reading besides the few people who have commented, so it's nice to know!

We're in like the exact same place. It's why I've enjoyed watching you 2 weeks ahead of me.

Moving your hand away in half-moon won't make the pain go away in your grounded leg but it will make it easier to do. You're right - you can't see the video much in Yoga X so it's hard to catch the small things like that. I've been doing P90X with my wife who has been doing a lot of yoga for 10 years. She's the one who gives me the little hints.

Turbulence Training is exactly what will work for you in the Summer. It's based around three 45 minute workouts a week plus extra "outdoors" things like regular biking. Here's a link to get "The Dark Side of Cardio":

Enjoy!
